What started out as a night most people thought would be another boring dunk contest, Mac McClung single handedly saved the event last night with a couple amazing dunks. This brings up the question, where does Mac McClung rank all time within the dunk contest legends. First we’re going to go over his dunks, then we’ll give you our list.

Mac McClung Dunks

Mac jumped over two people, tapped the glass and then proceeded to dunk it. The score, 50. His next dunk was a 360 windmill, which got a 49.8, thanks to Lisa Leslie giving a 49. His next dunk was a double pump reverse, which is hard to do even on a low hoop (50). Last but not least, his most impressive dunk, the 540, which was obviously a 50.

Thanks to this tweet by ballislife, we could take a good look at all of them.

Where Does Mac McClung Rank All Time When It Comes To Dunk Contest Dunkers?

There has been quite a lot of talented dunkers in the dunk contest over the years. But we’ve managed to narrow it down.

#1 Zach Lavine

I’m going strictly by dunking creativity, and Zach Lavine is number one on that list. Below is a behind the back dunk from Lavine in the 2016 NBA dunk contest.

#2 Aaron Gordon

Aaron Gordon is known for losing to Zach in possibly the closest dunk contest ever. His height combined with his jumping ability and creativity is something we’ve never really seen before in the dunk contest. Most big men who participate can’t really move like Aaron does, so that’s the reason he’s #2. Below is his dunk jumping over his mascot, grabbing the ball and going under both legs.

#3 Vince Carter

Vince Carter is undoubtedly one of the greatest dunkers of all time, and his legacy in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest is nothing short of legendary. Carter’s ability to combine creativity, power, athleticism, and showmanship has left a lasting impact on the contest and the sport of basketball as a whole. His innovative and creative dunks, such as the “Reverse 360 Windmill” and the “Elbow Dunk,” were unlike anything that had been seen before, and his execution of these dunks with incredible power and athleticism was truly awe-inspiring. I would not be mad at anyone who still wants to put VC at #1.

#4 Dominique VS Jordan

We’re going to have to go with both Dominique and Jordan together for this one, just because their contest was so close. The 1988 NBA Slam Dunk Contest featuring Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins is one of the most iconic moments in basketball history. Jordan and Wilkins were two of the best players in the NBA at the time, and their rivalry only added to the excitement of the contest. Both players were known for their incredible athleticism and highlight-reel dunks, and fans were eager to see them go head-to-head in the contest. The two competitors did not disappoint, as they both performed an incredible array of dunks that showcased their skill, creativity, and power. The dunks that were performed in the contest, such as Jordan’s “Kiss the Rim” dunk and Wilkins’ “Double-Pump Windmill,” are still remembered as some of the greatest dunks in NBA history.

5. Mac McClung

Mac single handedly revived the dunk contest. Just when you didn’t think there anything else exciting to add to the contest, he did just that. That’s why he deserves a spot at #5.
