Kevin Durant is often looked at as the most natural scorers the NBA has ever seen. So, a perfect question for him is who are the top 4 bucket getters since 2000 (Asked by Chris Henderson).

His answer was himself (of course), Kobe Bryant, Lebron, & Tracy McGrady. Let’s break them down.

So let’s break it down. Below is a list of leading scorers from 2000-2024. Lebron James is first, followed by Dirk, Bryant, Carmelo, Durant himself, and then Paul Pierce.

So why T-Mac when he’s not even on this list? The fact of the matter is people forget how good of a scorer Tracy Mcgrady was in his prime. That is until he was hit with multiple injuries (back problems, plantar faciitis, and ankle injuries).

Tracy in his prime was arguably the best scorer in the league, averaging 32.1 points per game in a league that wasn’t as high scoring as today.

He’s also infamous for his 13 points in 35 seconds against the San Antonio Spurs.

Tracy was able to shoot from anywhere, get to the basket, and had crazy handle. But, was he impressive enough to be considered a better bucket getter than Carmelo Anthony and Dirk?

I think that’s up for debate. Carmelo could score at will and Dirk one leg jumper was just unstoppable his whole career.

Another player that’s hard to leave out is Allen Iverson. He stopped playing in 2010, but in the 2000’s Allen Iverson has 3 scoring titles.

Then you have James Harden who also has 3, and Joel Embiid also has 2.

In my opinion, it really depends on how you look at it. Are we looking at the peak of their scoring ability or consistency throughout the 2000’s. Because if it’s peak, the conversation becomes much harder. If it’s consistency, it become easy.
